Rumah Indonesia was founded on August 13, 2012 in Washington D.C., U.S.A.
The idea of establishing Rumah Indonesia was born from the minds of five Indonesian women for the purpose of inculcating the growing population of Indonesian children born overseas with real character values in accordance with the traditions and customs of Indonesian culture.
The common vision of these five Indonesian women is embodied through Rumah Indonesia’s programs consisting of regular Indonesian language classes and various interactive activities focusing on building character formation through exposure to traditional values of Indonesian culture.
Rumah Indonesia presents a community forum that has a spirit of partnership with parents and all members of Indonesian society who share the same concern of the formation of character in Indonesian children. One of Rumah Indonesia’s future goals is to reach out to members of the international community who are interested in learning about Indonesian traditions and culture.
Rumah Indonesia is a home open to all. It is an organization that embraces all individuals regardless of race, religion, or whatever group.
