LIVIA ISKANDAR
Livia Iskandar is a psychologist from the University of Indonesia. She obtained her Masters in Counseling Psychology from City University in London, England. She received her Doctorate in Public Health from the University of Hawaii in Manoa, Honolulu, USA.
In 2002 Livia, along with a number of colleagues, established PULIH Psychosocial Trauma and Empowerment Recovery Center, which is headquartered in Jakarta and has a field office in Banda Aceh. Livia is active in the field of trauma recovery, recovery systems development for women and children who are victims of violence and disasters, and community-based research on the local culture of violence and post-disaster recovery. Livia has been an active participant at national, regional and international events in Asia, U.S., Europe and Africa through organizations such as the United Nations and the World Health Organization in Geneva.
Having spent a quarter of her life in foreign countries (Australia, UK and USA), Livia has a strong desire to do more to preserve the Indonesian culture and language for children of families who live outside Indonesia.
Since 2006, Livia has been living in Maryland, USA, and is active in helping couples following their husband / wife as consultants at the World Bank in Washington DC. Livia is also known for developing special catering for Indonesian cuisine while writing her dissertation on the topic of Violence Against Screening for Couples at Community Health Center in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Livia returned home in early 2014 and she is currently working at Tahija Foundation, acting as Managing Director.
