BATIK is FUN !
Learn the BATIK RULES from Rumah Indonesia!
Batik is the technique of placing dye-resistant wax on cloth prior to the dyeing process to create unique patters and designs.
Rumah Indonesia has enjoyed introducing the history and unique technique of making batik to children in the Washington DC area as a fun Indonesian-centered craft to facilitate learning. To further engage the children we have also introduced other fun elements such as flour or glue to simplify the process.
The workshop takes from 1.5 to 3 hours and can be developed into a series of workshops when needed.
We collaborate with many generous partners, including the Embassy of Indonesia, Textile Museum, KID Museum,
Washington Performing Arts Society (Embassy Adoption Program), and others.
We also have provided workshops at local schools.
